The Art of Teaching Acroyoga

Tucson Teacher Training:
The art of teaching acroyoga with Jessie Goldberg, Eugene Poku, Natalie Nguyen, Jill Campbell, and Serena Tang. 2 weeks of physical reintegration, mental sharpening, emotional awakening, community building and remembered wisdom.

This is a two week long Level 1 Acro Yoga Teacher Training Intensive in the style of Acroyoga Montreal. It can stand alone as your Level 1 teaching certification, or will qualify you to take the Level 2 Acro Yoga Teacher Training offered in Montreal each July.

This Acro Yoga teacher training intensive will give participants the tools to teach the fundamentals of Acro Yoga Montreal including yoga, acrobatics, partner body balancing; intro to seamless and dynamic Acro Yoga transitions and the creative process of Acro Yoga Montreal.

Acro Yoga Teacher Training Level 1 Requirements

• participants should feel comfortable upside down and be able to hold a tripod headstand and handstand comfortably against the wall
• hold plank pose and chaturanga dandasana with relative ease
participants should have an ongoing AcroYoga practice (300+hours)
• be comfortable basing and flying basic AcroYoga balances
• have a consistent yoga asana practice 2-3 x per week for a mininum of 2 years
• be comfortable teaching an hour long yoga class; a teacher training certification is not necessary.
• participants must have a sense of humor and compassion!

REQUIREMENT VIDEOS
All applicants must submit ( or give us a link to ) a video of themselves executing the Requirements, Yoga asanas, AcroYoga flows ( “Hanumanasana flow” and “Victoria Hall Flow” ) and teaching a 30 minute yoga class

4. Teaching a 30 minute yoga class
Submit a video of yourself teaching a 30 minute yoga class to a minimum of 3 people

Acro Yoga is a fun filled yet serious practice with the potential to reconnect us to our inner child. The participatory, interactive and self-affirming energy of the Acroyoga practice unites like-minded people from different walks of life. It has many practical and therapeutic applications both in the Acroyoga community and the world at large.

The mastery of the technique in our own Acro Yoga practice is the foundation we draw on for teaching AcroYoga. How to communicate verbally and physically to our students the inner & outer experience are the skills we will explore in this Acroyoga Teacher Training Intensive.

We will do our best to connect you with a local host if you would like. Please email us if you need housing assistance. For travel, we have a great community bike shop called BICAS that can rent bikes very cheaply, or also give you the opportunity to build or buy a cheap bike while in town.

10:30-1045am: Break
10:45am-1:15pm:Teaching methodology of acroyoga montreal:
breaking down and teaching the essential acroyoga montreal partner, acrobatic, and flying sequences necessary to establish a strong foundation for seamless Acro Yoga transitions. Exploring the creative process in acroyoga; Harnessing yoga and dance as the building blocks of body balancing dynamics, the essence of acroyoga montreal
1:15-2:15pm: Lunch
2:15-2:45: Restorative Yoga and massage
2:45-5:45pm: Teaching methodology of acroyoga montreal:
breaking down and teaching intermediate – advanced partner- Acro Yoga asana, flying sequences; seamless and dynamic acroyoga transitions; Exploring the creative process in acro yoga; Harnessing yoga and as the building blocks of body balancing dynamics, the essence of acroyoga montreal
5:45-6pm: NOTHING BUT CORE BABY!!!
6pm-6:30 closing circle, meditation, reflection

1:30-2:30pm: Lunch
2:30-3pm: AcroYoga Community class course planning
3:00-4:30pm: Teach acroyoga community class to real live people
4:30-5pm: Feedback
5:00-5:30pm: Closing circle, Free flow
