Practicing the Yamas with Yin Yoga & Meditation
Thursdays, June 22 — July 20, 6:30-7:45 pm (5 weeks)
with Ashley Celeste Leal, E RYT-500, YACEP
Learn about the five yamas (disciplines) of the eight-limbed (ashtanga) yoga system (based on the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali) through the practice of yin yoga. Each week will focus on one of these precepts using meditation, pranayama, and inspiration along with yin postures to explore how we can use the yamas on and off the mat to deepen our connection to Self.
All level and bodies welcome. Yin Yoga is a meditative practice of postures held for three or more minutes and can be adapted to suit all needs.
Please bring a yoga mat, blanket, bolster (or another pillow for support), eye pillow and any other props you have to support your practice. Some props will be available for use.
Week One — Ahimsa (non-harming)
Week Two — Satya (truthfulness)
Week Three — Asteya (non-stealing)
Week Four — Brahmacharya (appropriate use of energy)
Week Five — Aparigraha (non-coveting)
