Twelfth Annual Teacher Leadership Institute: Roadmap to Educational Change
Join teacher leaders from across Arizona to work together to catalyze fundamental changes in your school and teaching culture, while learning how to play a central role in transforming teaching and learning in your community. Build on existing efforts and learn from other teachers across the state, in order to identify promising leadership practices that you and your colleagues will be able to magnify throughout the year as you develop a roadmap to address changes at the local level.
Dennis Shirley will kick off the event with an in-depth look at his newest release, The New Imperatives of Educational Change: Achievement with Integrity. Dennis will uncover the evidentiary imperative to study learning and it’s requirement that we attain a better grasp of what policies promote student achievement and what strategies undermine it. The learning journey will continue with mindful deliberation about the factors that give your students and communities their own unique identities. Discover the new international research findings on promising pedagogies and curricula that propel learning beyond expectations. Look beyond our immediate communities and national boundaries to improve the learning of all young people and discard the role of being a conveyor of information while embracing the imperative to be a role model who can dignify learning with meaning and embellish it with joy. Participants will discuss why it is imperative to change the expectations for teacher leadership and work with colleagues to identify common challenges.
Registration includes training materials, breakfast, lunch, breaks, and a copy of Dennis Shirley’s newest book, The New Imperatives of Educational Change. Private accommodations will be provided for the nights of June 19th and 20th if you choose to register with accommodations.
