Luto por los Asesinados y Desaparecidos Mourning for the Murdered and Disappeared
Last Wednesday morning, November 29th, a man was murdered by the Border Patrol in the Baboquivari Mountains just south west of Tucson on Tohono O'odham land. While the Border Patrol agents and officials claim that they were assaulted, they have offered no evidence whatsoever to support this claim, and have not done all that they can to investigate thoroughly the case. Further, because we understand the full depth of US foreign policy in regards to the border including increased militarization, death by policy, as well as economic and military devastation throughout Latin America which fuels northward migration, we know that this death is simply one among many that goes callously overlooked, and dehumanizes us all.
This Thursday we will be having a vigil/mourning for the murdered and disappeared who we have lost at the hands of the Border Patrol and US imperialist policy.
We will meet at the Federal Courthouse at 5:30pm to hold candles in remembrance and eventually make our way to El Tiradito and La Pilita to finish out the night of remembrance. For those who are able, we will also have a spirit run starting at the corner of West Spruce and South Palomas which will run past the Federal Courthouse where all other participants will follow in a silent march.
