Veterans on Patrol Invites the Public to Enjoy Food, Need Items, and Guided Tours!
Bravo Base — “Camp Conklin” a 40+ person homeless Veteran camp, is Veterans on Patrol’s (VoP) main base and has been serving the neighborhood surrounding Santa Rita park and City of Tucson as a whole for over 2 years. In that time Bravo Base has helped navigate over 300 people into housing, and has provided; food, water, bathrooms, showers, clothes, and shelter for over 1,000 people. Veterans on Patrol, founded by Lewis Arthur, is completely operated and managed by homeless Veterans and Civilians, with advisory consisting of Gold Star Mom’s, Veterans, and Veteran Families. Thanks to the generous donation of land and utilities by HMS Fasteners, one of the oldest bolt, nut, fastner companies in the United States, VoP has been able to function without complications. We are proud of the model HMS Fasteners has set in showing how local business can act in a superbly charitable way, and our hopes are the community will now step up and patron and support HMS Fasteners.
With the assistance of Veteran Rescue Mission, and Pastor Jon McLane we will be opening Bravo Base to the public homeless and housed alike to enjoy in brunch and dinner provided by Operation 13:2, and Kelly Flores, along with Youth for Veterans, and Momma V, as well as over 100 backpacks with need items provided by Tucson Sunrise and Kino Rotary Clubs, haircuts by Juan Carlos MontesDeoca, wellness exams provided by Dr. Carol Henricks, workshops on; vehicle mechanics, desert survival, and disaster readiness by Bravo Base residents, and a Tiny house village planning workshop by 25 year Portland Homeless Advocate and founder of Dignity Village and Right 2 Dream too, with Right 2 Survive, Ibrahim Mubarik, and lastly, a caper of guided tours by Base tour guides and special keynote speakers during introductions of the event.
