Spill Stories brings U.S. oil and gas pipeline spill data to life through creative writing.
Join us to hear eight students and professors from the University of Arizona's Creative Writing Program read short poetry and prose. These original creative writing pieces respond to publicly available data detailing over 8,000 significant oil and gas pipeline spills since 1986.
Spill Stories is a collaboration between the Climate Alliance Mapping Project (CAMP) and students and professors from the University of Arizona’s Creative Writing program. CAMP is an initiative led by a team of geographers, storytellers and archivists at the University of Arizona (climatealliancemap.org). CAMP builds interactive climate justice story maps that bring together scientific data and digital stories produced by affected communities to educate the public, connect local communities with global climate justice networks, and inform policy decisions.
