Join us for a BEYOND Guided «Park Rx» Walk and meander through Tucson’s westside neighborhoods and historic birthplace over to the amazing Mission Gardens (at least once a month) … and Beyond!
Park Prescriptions is a partnership between Tucson's Healthcare Providers and Parks & Recreation and Public Land Managers who were interested in developing a more comprehensive approach to improving public health and their patients' overall well-being.
Did you know that one’s physical, mental and social well-being can be greatly improved by simply prescribing regular doses of time outdoors in nature?
The overarching goal of the Park Rx program is to encourage people to reconnect with nature and strengthen their support networks, as they recreate outdoors together.
Ready to give it a try?
Join us every Thursday from 4:00 — 6:00 P.M. Each time participants complete 5 walks they will receive a $5 token that can be spent on fresh local food at the Santa Cruz Farmers' Market at the Mercado San Augstine Thursday evenings from 3 — 6 pm.
Dequenesh’s Community Health & Wellness Mobile Unit and U of A public health students will always be on hand to provide blood pressure readings, pulse and pulse oximetry.
This weekly Walk is a good time to sign up and get your Beyond Challenge Card started for 2018!
BEYOND encourages community members to adopt a comprehensive approach to their physical and mental health through four pillars of health and wellness:
Get outside and explore nature;
Make good nutritional choices;
Engage in enjoyable physical movement;
Strengthen community connections.
